Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences kindly invites international students and teachers to join an inter-professional study group at the School of Healthcare Studies during the international week Urban Health. This one-week program runs twice a year.
“We are at an unprecedented moment in human development as the greatest migration in history unfolds around us. Less than a decade ago a majority of humankind still lived in the countryside, yet today a clear majority live in urban areas. In 2030, 60% of all people will reside in cities, proportionally twice that of 1950. For most of us from now on, life and death will be an urban aff air.
The global community was not only waking up to this new demographic reality and the consequent implications for health, society, and economic and political aff airs, but also to a host of new opportunities as humans shape and are shaped by an urban future.”
(World Health Organization, 2016)
During this international week you are challenged to think ahead and fi nd some opportunities for making a difference in the health situation of urban citizens, both in Rotterdam and in other European cities. This intensive, inter-professional and international week provides you with a program aimed at developing your competences as an urban health professional. We hope this programme inspires you to help creating more equity and better health conditions for urban citizens in many diff erent cities around the world.

European research platform for inclusive community planning and service development for people with disabilities (EURECO)
Join us at 3rd EURECO-Forum 2019, 25/26 March 2019! Brussels, Representation of the State of Northrhine-Westphalia (NRW) to the European Union, Rue Montoyer 47, 1000 Brussels
EURECO is a European collaboration platform of academic researchers and service providers working on inclusive community planning and development of in the perspective of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). The platform is a joint initiative of the European Association of Services Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) and the Centre for Planning and Evaluation of Social Services (ZPE), University of Siegen, Germany to foster European theory-practice cooperation in the disability services sector. Since 2017 the research platform yearly organizes European forums in Brussels to discuss current trends and problems relevant for European research activities concerning disability, inclusive communities and service delivery. Whereas the focus of meetings in 2017 was on cooperation and co-production in comparative European research, the forum 2018 dealt with comparative issues around diffusion of innovations in local disability fields, including political implementation strategies. The two forum meetings not only resulted in productive debates and concrete ideas for European project activities but also led to valuable networking among participants from all over Europe.
In 2019, the EURECO Forum will be entitled: “Take measure: Social impact measurement frameworks for disability services in Europe”Programme Concept note

Diversity and Social inclusion (DiSI)
Diversity and Social Inclusion is a program of study aimed at enhancing awareness of different kinds of social inequalities rooted in many different ways of diversity in our contemporary societies, including those related to digital poverty and the usage of innovative technologies in health care.
It will support the development of core competences in future educators, health care professionals and social workers with the help of an already piloted interdisciplinary model (ICIC) based on blended learning approach.
This model could improve the sensibility to differences in cultural, socio-economic and health status, and the unequal distribution of social resources.
The organisation of the course consists of two modules. The expected outcomes of a preparatory assignment (module 1) based on distance learning will result in a 5-day intensive program (module 2) with activities taking place in a multi-professional and multicultural context in Vic, Spain.
