Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences kindly invites international students and teachers to join an inter-professional study group at the School of Healthcare Studies during the international week Urban Health. This one-week program runs twice a year.

During this international week you are challenged to think ahead and fi nd some opportunities for making a difference in the health situation of urban citizens, both in Rotterdam and in other European cities. This intensive, inter-professional and international week provides you with a program aimed at developing your competences as an urban health professional. We hope this programme inspires you to help creating more equity and better health conditions for urban citizens in many diff erent cities around the world.

EURECO is an initiative of ZPE, University of Siegen and EASPD aimed at bringing research and practice together for more innovative research on inclusive community development.
The forum will welcome representatives of European research institutions working in the fields of disability, community planning and inclusive services, as well as other experts and representatives of disability service providers.

Diversity and Social inclusion (DiSI)
Diversity and Social Inclusion is a program of study aimed at enhancing awareness of different kinds of social inequalities rooted in many different ways of diversity in our contemporary societies, including those related to digital poverty and the usage of innovative technologies in health care.
It will support the development of core competences in future educators, health care professionals and social workers with the help of an already piloted interdisciplinary model (ICIC) based on blended learning approach.
This model could improve the sensibility to differences in cultural, socio-economic and health status, and the unequal distribution of social resources.
The organisation of the course consists of two modules. The expected outcomes of a preparatory assignment (module 1) based on distance learning will result in a 5-day intensive program (module 2) with activities taking place in a multi-professional and multicultural context in Vic, Spain.

IV International Conference on Health Research:
responding to the changing world
The IV International Conference on Health Research: responding to the changing world aims to focus on research responses to the rapid changes at the global level, based on political, social, cultural, educational and economic transformations that influence health. It also provides an opportunity for academics and professionals from different health areas to bridge knowledge and promote interest in health care research and development. This conference will take place at the Portuguese Red Cross Northern Health School, on April 10, 11 and 12, 2019. Evidence-based practice in health is extremely important for a safe care, adequate and scientifically valid practice. All health processes and procedures must be properly contextualized, consistent and rigorous so that they are valid and recognized by the scientific and global community. The challenge is to build an innovative response in global health, health education, family and community health, responses to health / disease processes, health information systems and technologies, virtual reality and simulation. Following previous editions we intend to promote collaboration of excellency between academics and practicionners from the various health disciplines in the creation of research networks.

MINOR APPLIED POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY
In this international minor we will look at the scientific knowledge on happiness and wellbeing and at the factors that lead to a sense of wellbeing, meaning and connection. Based on this knowledge we will look further into and develop interventions that can help individuals, organizations, communities and society at large to flourish.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down “happy”. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life’
When being asked the question what do you want most out of life, people from all over the world answer: to be happy! But despite decades of economic growth we are no happier now than sixty years ago. What is happiness and do we really know what makes us happy? Do we give happiness enough priority? Can we influence our own happiness and the happiness of others and how? These (and more) questions are being asked and answered by positive psychologists all over the world and will be addressed in the minor Applied Positive Psychology.
What is Positive Psychology?
Positive Psychology is the scientific study of wellbeing and human flourishing. This new branch on the psychology tree was founded in 2000 by Martin Seligman and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. They were not happy about traditional psychology’s emphasis on what is wrong and on weaknesses. Psychology should also look at what is right and at strengths of people. Since then psychologists all over the world started to study happiness, wellbeing and the good life. According to Seligman we can indeed influence our own happiness by changing our actions and by making the right choices. We can flourish individually and together through experiencing positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning and accomplishment (PERMA model of wellbeing, 2011).

Nature and Adventure Promoting Wellbeing is a course for all students of social and health care interested about empowering experiences supporting wellbeing. During the course you will gain new professional competencies, but also learn a lot of yourself, your own values and relation towards nature and natural environment.

INTERNATIONALISATION OF THE CURRICULUM
HANDS-ON INTERNATIONALISATION @ HOME
This hands-on training course will start with an introduction on the backgrounds and key principles of internationalization of the home curriculum. After that, participants will work on internationalising their own teaching. An important step in the process is the internationalization of current student learning outcomes.
Internationalizing curricula implies giving students the opportunity to experience perspectives from other countries and contexts. This will enable them to become aware that local practices are not uni-versal. An interdisciplinary approach can also provide those other perspectives. Therefore, this train-ing course will incorporate both international and interdisciplinary components to the participants’ teaching. Exchanging and comparing with the work of the other participants will be an important ele-ment of this training course.
