WEBINAR

Title
How to start writing a European Education project, like Erasmus+?

Description
Within a few days/weeks the New Call for the European projects 2021-2027 will be launched. So, it is high time that we start to focus not only on the concept of our project, but on how we are going to conceive it.

What is the relevance of our project?
How will we design it?
And how will we implement it?
What are the activities we can put forward?
Who will be our team partners and with what will we entrust them?
And what do we expect from the dissemination?  And this way, are we good and trustworthy Europeans?

Presenter
Annemie van den Dries

At present she is very much involved in assessing projects mainly Erasmus+, and that is why Annemie was asked to talk to you about the essence of project writing.

WEBINAR 3

Title
Supporting students for meaningful online learning

Description
Online teaching has increased enormously lately because of COVID-19 and its effect on education. Being able to study and work online is becoming more and more a way of working in all fields. In health care as well as in social work it is commonly used eg. in mental health and for distance rehabilitation. Being able to use tools which enables communication from a distance is essential for future experts.

Lately there has been a lot of information about students being tired and bored of studying online. Some might say this is because of lack of communication, some because of teachers not having enough skills to facilitate meaningful learning online or because of other reasons. This webinar will be a practical session to learn and share practices on how to engage students for meaningful online learning.
Keywords: online learning, student engagement, learning community, visualization

POSTPONED TO 2022 COHEHRE Conference 'Urban Health: Inclusion and Sustainability in super-diverse cities' @ Hogeschool Rotterdam

The COHEHRE Council, in consultance with the Conference Host Rotterdam University of Applied sciences, have decided to postpone the yearly COHEHRE Conference to March 2022 due to the uncertainty Covid-19 has brought on. The exact days of the conference will be communicated in due course.

This postponement was not an easy decision to make but the best one seeing the circumstances we are living in at the moment.

We are still striving to maximise your membership and will be organising alternative activities. Apart from the monthly free webinars we are foreseeing, we will organise an exciting programme for students and extra focused webinars with a particular interest in our 3 branches.

Stay tuned for more news on our student and staff conference alternatives!

WEBINAR 4

Title
Stresscoping of undergraduate nursing students during the first coronawave

Description
Not only nurses and staff but also undergraduate nursing students were ambushed by the first coronawave. The Job Demands-Resources model gives some handhold how to deal with all the job demands and job resources during their internships. How did students adapt to this new reality? The question was whether students were able to use sufficient energy sources during this crisis to advance in their personal and professional development, what coping strategies they used and whether this first wave had influenced their perception of the profession.

COHEHRE Webinar: Diversity management and optimal use of the cultural capital of the international students within the international classrooms @ Microsoft Teams
Jun 3 @ 16:30 – 17:30
COHEHRE Webinar: Diversity management and optimal use of the cultural capital of the international students within the international classrooms @ Microsoft Teams

International and intercultural competencies are considered to be of major importance to future graduates in higher education. Yet, the international classroom does not foster these competences automatically; the desired exchange between students with different cultural backgrounds is all too often not taking place. Scholarly research confirms that exposure is not the same as competence (Van de Berg et al., 2012; Brinkmann & Van Weerdenburg, 2014). If the cultural capital present in the international classroom is not being observed, and not actively used, it is also not very likely to produce the desired outcomes.

In this webinar we will present a Comenius Senior Fellow project for which Hanze received a two year grant. This project aims at developing and facilitating educators who are confidently addressing (culturally) different perspectives relevant in both theory and practice. We are inspired by the concept of commitment in relativism (Perry, 1970; Kurfiss, 1981), i.e. an ability to make educational and didactical choices in a more conscious way, rooted in close review of an international educational context, meanwhile still authentically adhering to a particular point of view, or to a particular school of thought.

We aim to achieve this by developing the following instruments:

  1. transferable techniques for internationalized program and curriculum design;
  2. providing a learning community where lecturers practise to enact cultural sensitivity (IC-studio)
  3. a (digital) IC ToolShed with best practices of intercultural effective didactics;
  4. a student survey for measuring the effects of our actions.

The project will have a direct impact on 36 lecturers and close to 600 students from within three different schools (Business, Health and Life Science).

Rethinking internationalisation of the home curriculum @ Microsoft Teams

Rethinking internationalisation of the home curriculum @ Microsoft Teams

Rethinking internationalisation of the home curriculum

Description

During the current COVID-19 crisis, people often remark that is time to focus on internationalization at home because students cannot go abroad. However, internationalization at home it is not an alternative to mobility. Rather, it forms the basis for internationalization for all students. When student mobility will resume it will be, like before, for a small minority of (privileged) students. The great majority of students will continue to depend on the home curriculum for global, international and intercultural perspectives. So, while mobility of the majority of students has not changed as a consequence of COVID-19, this is a good time to rethink the internationalization of our curricula.

During this course we will work hands on, starting with the vision on internationalization of each programme of studies, rethinking that if required. We will then engage with the instruments that shape internationalization of the curriculum, including virtual exchange and Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). We will practice articulating learning outcomes of programmes of study and of modules that form the curriculum.

Sessions will consist of input, discussions in teams and plenary discussion. Between the sessions, participants will work on assignments for their own study programme. They will upload these and receive feedback. Half way between the formal sessions, there will be informal sessions for discussion and questions.

Objectives
Main objectives of the course:

  • The participants have working knowledge of internationalization of the home curriculum, its rationales, aims and its potential
  • The participants are able to articulate international and intercultural aspects of the curriculum by internationalizing learning outcomes and assessment
